BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - SITTING on 400 acres of land, standing 1 000 feet above sea level and overlooking the Villages of St. Paul’s and Dieppe Bay, Kittitian Hill is raising the standard of hotel and tourism development in the Federation.

Last Tuesday (Oct. 22), media professionals were given a guided tour of the major development, located at Mount Liamuiga, which boasts uniqueness and sustainable luxury living.

The development is made up of three main tourist attraction, including: The Village which, upon completion, would be a 100-room three-star hotel; and Belmont Farm, an 84-cottage five-star hotel scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2014.

Leading the tour was the founder of Kittitian Hill, Val Kempadoo, who has very high hopes for the multi-million dollar development.

Partnering with Patrick Liotard-Vogt, Co-Developer and Chairman of ASMALLWORLD, the men have designed luxury suites and cottages, which have never before seen in the Federation, by combining outdoor and indoor living.

Kempadoo revealed that 30 cottages, 14 villas and a golf course would comprise the opening of the first phase. He explained that the development, once completed, would be "pretty much like, you’d say Frigate Bay”.

Each hotel room sits between a wide variety of fruit trees which, according to Kempadoo, gives it a tropical outlook with an exotic twist.

Kempadoo is of the view that Kittitian Hill would not only sustain itself but would pave the way for sustainable living throughout the Federation.

The site also boasts two substantial nurseries which Kempadoo said would house local, regional and international food crops that would sustain Kittitian Hill and would also be open to local famers and non-farmers.

He informed that Kittitian Hill is also partnering with the Ministry of Agriculture to provide crops that are not available to the locals, as well as to expose the Federation to the different types of foods not grown in St. Kitts and Nevis.

Kempadoo said that there are currently 400 locals working daily at Kittitian Hill and 250 more are expected to be employed at the first hotel, once opened.

He noted that there are 50 local contractors working on the site.

The Kittitian Hill development would be the first-five star hotel on St Kitts.
