Wednesday 30th October 2013 – Road Town, British Virgin Islands: Sir Richard Branson’s private island, Necker, is now powered by Digicel Business. The agreement comes as a result of a fire that took place on the island in 2011 – which temporarily left it without any connectivity to the outside world.
With all main telecoms infrastructure destroyed, Digicel Business representatives stepped in to offer their assistance. Despite the challenging situation, the team worked with General Manager, Kenton Jones, to help get the island connected to the internet within a matter of days followed by Dedicated Internet Access (DIA) and fixed line services a couple of weeks later.
