BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – AS part of its ongoing efforts to give back to the community, Caribelle Batik held the draw for its annual raffle involving the nation’s taxi drivers yesterday (Jan. 13) at the Berkeley Memorial, affectionately known as ‘The Circus’.

From a field of 143 registrants, nine lucky taxi drivers won an array of prizes donated by the clothing company.

The grand prize winner was Hyacinth Warner and she won a 22-inch television. Second-place winner Basil Spice received a 12-inch television while third-place finisher Vincent Joseph won a CD player.

Other prizes include a microwave, a radio and a car-cleaning gift set. The winners will officially receive their prizes tomorrow (Jan. 15) at a brief ceremony at Caribelle Batik’s outlet in Old Road.

A representative of the company, Jamilia Brazier, revealed that The Circus was chosen as the location for the draw due to its significance in local history and its proximity to Caribelle Batik’s sister company, Island Hopper.    ~~Adz:Right~~

“Caribelle Batik is also a significant part of local culture and the raffle is our way of honouring the taxi drivers for the wonderful partnership we’ve had with them for the past 32 years. They are responsible for bringing a lot of tourists to our store and we want them to know how much we appreciate their efforts,” said Brazier.
