(CHARLESTOWN, Nevis) --- Native son, 21-year-old Jude Hanley has sent out the mandate to youths to stay in school and is leading by example through his pursuit of an Associate’s Degree in the field of Biochemistry at Rutgers University in New Jersey.

Hanley, originally from Bath Road, Nevis, attended the Charlestown Secondary School from 1999 up until 2004 and then went on to the Charlestown Sixth Form College where he pursued studies in the fields of Math, Physics, Geography, Caribbean Studies and Communication Studies.

After his tenure at the Charlestown Sixth Form College, Hanley took up employment with the Nevis Island Administration teaching at the Charlestown Secondary School.

In 2007 Hanley travelled to New Jersey to attend Rutgers University, inspired to enroll by an earlier visit when he was 15 years old. As a sophomore at Rutgers Hanley is an active participant in campus life. ~~Adz:Right~~

“Right now I am a part of the West Indian Student Organization (WISO), WISO Dance Group, Christian Youth Fellowship and the debate team as of this semester,” said Hanley in speaking to SKNVibes.com.

During the interview Hanley revealed his lifelong desire to become a cardiologist and return to practice in his community in Nevis.
“I want to become a doctor and currently my major is biochemistry. I’ve wanted to become a cardiologist since I was 7 years old. I guess that I am inspired by the need to save lives,” he said.

Hanley expressed his view on tertiary education saying “There is such a great competition for blue collar jobs, and nowadays, with this recession thing, making average money gets you closer to the poverty line, rather than the dream-line.”
