Embassy of ROC (Taiwan) donate wheelchairs

Basseterre, St. Kitts - On behalf of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation of Taiwan, Ambassador Rong Chuan Wu of the Republic of China (Taiwan) in the Federation of St. Kitts and Nevis handed over twenty wheelchairs to Minister of Health Rupert Herbert in the morning of January 16th, 2009. 

Minister Herbert  expressed his gratitude to the Foundation and promised to distribute those wheelchairs to those people who are in need in this Federation. 
 
In his brief remarks, Ambassador Wu said the Eden Social Welfare Foundation was established in 1982 by Miss Liu Hsia, a female wheelchair writer suffering from rheumatic arthritis, to serve people with disabilities as well as other socially marginalized groups in Taiwan.

The Foundation has expanded significantly over the years with the following international relief items: wheelchair donations, disaster response, food aid, and rehabilitation for war injured people.

 He was pleased to envisage the Eden Foundations for the wheelchair donation. Ambassador Wu also stated on the contributions of Taiwanese philanthropy non-government organizations (NGOs) in the international community.   ~~Adz:Right~~

Those NGOs perform charity, medicine, medicine, education, environmental protection, international relief and other projects as their routines.

Minister Herbert praised the generosity of the Eden Social Welfare Foundation and committed to refer those wheelchairs to those who are really in need. He also urge the NGOs in St. Kitts and Nevis such as Rotary clubs and Lion clubs to establish contact with their counterparts in Taiwan.
 
The Embassy of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is convinced that the donation will further promotion the relations of our two countries and bring our two peoples closer.
