Injured burglar charged with house-breaking and larceny

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE burglar, who was knocked unconscious by a passenger bus on Monday (Jan. 19) while trying to escape from his pursuers, was charged with housebreaking and larceny.

According to information garnered from the Police Public Relations Office, the burglar was identified as a 16-year-old male resident of Stapleton Village.

On the day in question, the juvenile, clad only in a shirt [and not boxer shorts as previously reported], unlawfully entered the New Road home of Chris and Triskan Hensley.

SKNVibes learned that the girlfriend of one of the two brothers was in the house at the time of the incident. She heard a strange noise, which was followed by the sounds of someone trying to unlock the door to the bedroom she was in.

She immediately telephoned the brothers to determine their whereabouts and subsequently called 911 when told that neither of them was within the vicinity of their home.

The brothers arrived 15 minutes later and saw the juvenile exiting the house from the back door as they were entering through the front. They chased him down the road, where he ran into the path of a passenger bus and was knocked unconscious.

A policeman travelling on another passenger bus saw the incident and disembarked to investigate the matter. Upon SKNVibes’ arrival on scene, a unit of the Emergency Medical Services had already arrived and was about to transport the juvenile to the Joseph N. France Hospital.

The owners revealed that nothing was stolen from the house.

According to the police’s, the boy was treated and released from the hospital earlier this week and is currently in custody.
