BRADES, Montserrat (November 29, 2013) – Clients will be able to receive the results of their HIV test in 10 minutes as part of the World AIDS Day activities for Montserrat on Monday, December 2, 2013.
According to Health Promotions Officer for the Ministry of Health & Social Services Wayne Hunte, for the first time rapid testing will be provided on island. “It will be part of the Check Your Health Campaign to mark World AIDS Day,” Hunte explained. “Reverend Joan DelSol Meade will be the chair for the ceremony which begins at 9am at the St John’s Health Centre.”
The new Chief Medical Officer Dr Tracy Higgins is expected to deliver the feature address. Throughout the day residents can come in for free health checks for dental care, blood pressure, body mass index (BMI), diabetic foot screening, blood sugar and blood group testing
Community partner for the project is DR Diagnostic Services in Little Bay, which will be offering 20 free HIV screenings and counselling on Monday.
