Kollision Band giving No Respect for Sugar Mas 42!

By: Jenise Ferlance-Isaac, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Kollision Band, alias Teflon, has done it again! It has dropped an album that tops all of its previous albums and has proven itself to be at a higher level.

The Band released its 2013/2014 Carnival album last evening (Dec. 9) and has already received an outpour of rave reviews from fans and non-fans.

‘No!Respect’ is the name of this year's album and Band Manager Shervin White expressed that the title signifies the fact that the band is usually not given the respect due to it.

The album consists of eight tracks that were lyrically constructed by several band members.

The first track, written by Janos Bagnall, is dubbed 'Wuk Up Session', which is a contender for this year's Soca Monarch Competition in the Power segment.

The song speaks about the different styles of "wukking up" when ladies are "jamming" in dance sessions; the way they "drop it, flick it, stick it, wine it, hold it, ride it, ring it, slick it" asking people to "watch how dem gyals wine inna de band, de way dey shake up dey body and wine up dey bam bam".

‘Book Up’ is another up-tempo tune which was written by Jermaine 'Chubby' Clarke and it mocks the new slang used by students in the Federation when playing pranks on each other.

White said the band took the new saying and turned it into a song.

One line says: "You have to look before you run into a book up...you got to be careful what you doing now, you just can't get up and run into things before you see what you just don't want to know. So take your time and bear that in mind..."

The title song is called 'No Respect Mix' and White said it is a "party mix" comprising different rhythms and chants produced by the band throughout the year.

Two fans favourites, according to White, are 'Anthem' and 'In Yah Home'. The former speaks about unity and bringing the nation together, while the latter is more sexual in nature and seemingly speaks to what takes place "in yah home" behind closed doors.

The chant says: "Your home, my home, come gyal let me whine up in your home, my home, come gyal."

The other songs are 'Rum Done', 'Set Up' and 'Ring'.

White said that the members have not yet decided on a road march contender but, based on reviews, the band is leaning towards 'Anthem'.

He expressed how proud he is to see how much the band has grown over the years, while noting that it came close to winning the Road March title last year and has produced an even better album this year.

He said that the band members are of the view that the Road March title is theirs for 2013-2014.

"We are very confident because we have put a lot of work into it. The album is road march quality and our popularity has grown a whole lot since we have come close to winning last year."

The album was recorded and mastered by Yard Tune Productions while its cover was artistically put together by Hungry Frog Productions.

The album is available for sale from all band members and Bloice on Liverpool Row for just $40. It was sponsored by Carib Brewery, LIME, Sugar Klothing, PEP TV, Hungry Frog Productions and Print King.

The Kollision Band [Teflons] had promised an album 10 times better than 'Armed and Dangerous' and reviews proved it has definitely delivered with 'No!Respect'.
