                                                      National archives updates inventory

    ~~Adz:Left~~ Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 27, 2009 (SKNIS):
    In order to continuously improve its service to the general public, the St. Kitts and Nevis National Archives based at Government Headquarters, St. Kitts, will begin updating its inventory as of Monday, February 01, 2009.

     

    National Archives staff will also be doing general cleaning particularly of the shelves as well as re-shelving as a means of creating space.  The records will also be accessed to determine damage, provide the correct classification, categories and numbers.  Archivist Mrs. Victoria Borg-OFlaherty said that this information will be needed to show what is available for consultation when the proposed website is launched.

     

    This work will commence this Monday, and in order to facilitate such, the Archives will be closed to the general public on all Mondays until further notice.  The customary services of the Archives will be carried out from Tuesdays to Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily.  These services include making records available for research on site which includes providing reading space, providing photocopies of archived material for school projects, categorizing and making available various listings as well as producing information about individual collections.

     

    The National Archives, based in St. Kitts, apologizes for this interruption of service and any inconvenience caused on Mondays.
