    Government signs third major contract for commercial court

     

    Premier and Minister for Finance Honourable Ralph T.     Roadtown, Tortola - Government has signed a third contract worth $2,511,198.65 for the main works of the commercial court.

    Premier and Minister for Finance Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE signed the contract yesterday with Mr. Larry Adams of Larry Adams Construction to provide the modification, renovation and construction of the building.

     

    Honourable O’Neal congratulated Larry Adams Construction Limited for being awarded the contract and said he is confident that Mr. Adams will do a good job and made reference to his satisfaction with the work he did in the past on the construction of the Governor’s Office.

     

    Mr. Adams said, “I see it as a privilege and an honour that the Premier and the Government entrusted this project to us.  We are committed to the project and will do everything possible to ensure that the project is completed on time and at a quality that will make everyone proud.”

     

    Permanent Secretary in the Deputy Governor’s Office Ms. Julia Christopher, chaired the brief ceremony and witnessed the Premier’s signature on behalf of Government.  

    She expressed her thanks on behalf of the Deputy Governor’s Office to everyone involved in preparing the document and revealed that the project is now in its fourth phase with one phase remaining, which will be the fitting out of the building.

     

    The commercial court will serve the Eastern Caribbean jurisdictions including   St. Vincent, Grenada, Dominica, St. Lucia, Antigua, Montserrat, St. Kitts, Anguilla and the BVI.     ~~Adz:Right~~

     

    Government signed the first contract on November 24, 2008 for $152,414.27 with Mr. Roger Downing of the firm, Roger Downing and Partner Company Limited for the provision of consultancy and architectural services, the second contract was signed on December 9, 2008 for $188,880.00 with Mr. Ben Butler of BCQS Limited for project management services.

     

    The overall project cost is estimated at $3.76 million and the projected completion date is July 2009. It is expected to create a world class court of which the BVI can be proud and which will attract new, high-end, commercial business to the Territory.
