    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOURTEEN persons were recently arrested and charged and will soon appear before the Federation’s courts.

     

    St. Pauls Village resident Jemal Jules was arrested and charged with “possession of cannabis”, “possession of cannabis with intent to supply”, “larceny” and two counts of “robbery”.

     

    “Possession of cannabis” and “obstruction” are the charges preferred against Buckley’s Estate resident Dwight Jacobs.

     

    Tabernacle residents Phillip Jones and Virgil Jarvis were arrested and charged with “possession of cannabis” and “possession of cannabis with intent to supply”.

     

    Craddock Road resident Deshawn Caines was also charged with one count each of “possession of cannabis” and “possession of cannabis with intent to supply”.

     

    For the offences of “resisting arrest” and “battery on police”, David Francis, a resident of Buckley’s Estate, was arrested and charged.

     

    “Resisting arrest”, “using obscene language” and “battery on police” are the charges with which Carlton Connor of Gibbons, Dieppe Bay was charged.

     

    St. Pauls Village resident Eucklyn Claxton was also charged with one count each of “resisting arrest” and “battery on police”.

     

    In unrelated incidents, Damian Hicks of Newcastle and a Stapleton Village 16-year-old were arrested and charged with “larceny” and “housebreaking and larceny” respectively.

     

    Denzil Edwards of Stapleton Village and Austin Duncan of Downing Street, Sandy Point were arrested and charged with “obstruction”.  The offences are unrelated.

     

    “Driving when not covered by insurance” and “driving without a valid driver’s licence” were the offences brought against a Conaree juvenile.

     

    Cleverly Hill, Sandy Point resident Lorenzo Hendrickson was arrested and charged for “wounding”. The offence is said to have been committed on January 2009.

     

    COURT CONVICTIONS

     

    A juvenile was among those individuals recently convicted of offences of which they were charged and has been sentenced to serve jail time.

     

    The 16-year-old, who is said to reside in the Basseterre area, was taken before the District “A” Magistrate Court on a charge of “house breaking with intent” which was committed on December 12, 2008.

     

    The juvenile was sentenced to serve two months at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    For theft of a “Sonya camera”, a St. Pauls Village resident was sentenced to time in prison.

     

    Jermal Jules stood before the Magistrate Court on a “larceny” charge and, after conviction, he was ordered to spend one year at Her Majesty’s Prison.

     

    After conviction by the District “B” Magistrate Court for “battery on police” and “resisting arrest”, Junie Belle of Fig Tree, Sandy Point was fined $1 200 to be paid within four months or one month imprisonment on the first count. He was “severely warned” on the second count.

     

    Two juveniles and an adult in the person of Dennis Hercules of Ponds Pasture were convicted of “larceny”. While Hercules was ordered to pay $750 within three months or serve a month in prison, the younger of the two juveniles was place on a six-month probationary period and is to perform 200 hours of community service.  As a condition to his probation, he is to observe a 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. curfew.

     

    Sentencing for the older of the two, has been deferred as a social enquiry is pending.
