BASSETERRE, St. Kitts January 26, 2009: While history was being written on Tuesday 20th January thousands of miles away from St. Kitts & Nevis, LIME was bringing the excitement closer to home for its mobile customers.
In a text invitation the telecommunications company invited its mobile customers to join the staff in a toast from 10am to 2pm. Customers entering the mobile store in their normal course of business were greeted by Service Representatives and offered a glass of cider. As word spread and more customers read their text message, there was a constant flow of traffic to share in the festive celebration.
Now in full celebration mode, the team felt encouraged to take the excitement up a notch. Customers were now offered a chance to text to win a trip to Washington to see the many historic landmarks and attractions – not the same experience as witnessing the inauguration live, but surely an impressive compromise.
It took literal seconds for customers to respond. Nearly one hundred responses in the first half hour and at the final count at 2pm, several thousand submissions were received. From random selection Percy Daniel emerged winner, and has been declared the official winner of the trip to Washington.
Overjoyed of course, when contacted he declared that it was about time that he won something from LIME as a longstanding customer. “I can now plan my vacation around that trip, thanks to LIME,” he added.
Said Terrence Crossman, VP Corporate Sales, whose idea it was to surprise customers, “This is yet another random act of kindness in reaching out to our customers with an extraordinary gesture when they least expect it.”
Mr Daniel may redeem his prize at a time convenient to him over the course of the next twelve months.
