By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - POLICE on Nevis are investigating the circumstances which led to the death of a Gingerland man who was found dead outside his home sometime this morning (Dec. 27).

A press release issued by the Public Relations Officer attached to the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, Inspector Lyndon David, confirmed that the lifeless body of Randolph Butler was discovered outside his Hickman’s Village home.

“Dead is 65 year old Randolph Butler of Hichman's Village, Gingerland. Friday 27th December 2013 sometime after 8:00 AM, a resident of the area discovered the body of the deceased and notified the police..”

The release provided no further information about the incident save to indicate that it is being treated as a “possible shooting”.

An article published by NevisPages.com today suggests that an alarm was raised after “workers of the Nevis Electricity Company (NEVLEC) were called to the scene to disconnect the electricity from his home, since early reports were that he was electrocuted”.

The report further suggests that after Butler’s death - which registers Nevis’ 10th homicide for the year - an attempt may have been made to burn his remains.

Further suggestions are that Butler’s body bore signs of violence - gunshot wounds - and it is expected that an autopsy would be performed so as to determine the exact cause of death.

The Violent Crimes Unit are making investigations into the incident and the individuals with information pertinent to this case are asked to pass it on to the police.

“Anyone who has information pertaining to this investigation is asked to call the Violent Crime Unit on Nevis at 469-5392, ext. 27 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS). Remember, you do not have to give your personal information and you may be eligible to receive a reward.”
