BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - FOLLOWING a number of controversial incidents involving members of the Unity Movement which included one of their activists being arrested, a protest march through the streets of Basseterre against the Denzil Douglas-led administration has been organised by the team to be held on Friday ( Jan. 10).

At a public meeting held last evening (Jan. 6) at the Five Ways Junction and Central Street, Unity Movement’s candidate for Constituency Four, Lindsay Grant called on supporters to show up in their numbers for the protest march on Friday.

“We calling you to march this Friday. I want to see a ‘bamanco’ demonstration come Friday, because I don't know about you but I fed up of what going on in this country. Are you fed up of what is going on in this country? Well, come out on Friday and show you are fed up.”

The former Leader of the People’s Action Movement also made an endorsement for the team of candidates who were on the Unity platform.

“You see this team at the back of me up here tonight, pound for pound, man for man the best team you could get in this country for any election. I want you to understand the gentlemen and women on this platform not fighting for themselves; they are fighting for you...and you need to rally behind them to ensure we do the job that we need to do.”

He then reiterated the call for supporters to come out in their numbers and rock the city of Basseterre.

“So for those of you who haven’t heard, come Friday I want a ‘bamanco’ demonstration in the town because when we start to march the whole town must be reverberated. They must understand that 2014 is Unity time.”
