Basseterre, St. Kitts, January 7th 2014 – Supporting their local community and giving back has been an embedded activity within this St Kitts resort by embracing Marriott’s “Spirit to Serve”, and their support has come through numerous donations and partnerships to a multitude of establishments on St Kitts and Nevis. As the year comes to a close the Spirit of Giving was most evident at the resort.
The resort received a multitude of requests from organizations throughout the entire island for assistance during the holiday season and set about assisting as many as it could. Due to these numerous requests a call to action was issued by the resort’s GM Jacques Hamou asking associates to donate their annual Christmas Ham and/or Turkey to be cooked by the resort and presented to some of the shut-ins on island. The Hams and Turkeys are traditionally presented to all associates every year as part of the resort’s holiday spirit.
The Hams and Turkeys were put together with all the traditional sides and trimmings. A team of associate volunteers then set out on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th and presented the meals to shut-ins in the community of Sandy Point and Capital city Basseterre.
The resort would like to say a special Thank You to Pastor Clive Saunders of Unique Touch Ministries and Ms. Althea Bass and Ms. Eugene Warner of the Catholic Church whose assistance made this event possible.
