SKIPA expands services with website launch

By: VonDez Phipps, SKNVibes

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts Investment Promotion Agency (SKIPA) has improved its provision of services and extended its direct market base with the introduction of its website yesterday (Feb. 2).

The new website is hoped to be an important tool in promoting St. Kitts as a preferred investment destination by offering a wealth of information to potential investors worldwide. It also features investment-related news, information about SKIPA and St. Kitts along with an Investor’s Guide that draws information from various institutions within the private sector. The website also highlights the Priority Sectors that are crucial for the continued development of the nation.

Visitors to the website will be provided with a “unique opportunity” to interact with the agency and other visitors through the website’s interactive discussion forum.

According to Market Research Officer Darien Belle, the launch of the website signifies an important step in an era of advanced technology and would serve to promote the island not only to local investors but also to regional and international ones.

“We are particularly excited about this medium of communication which is intended to foster discussions geared towards improving the business conditions in St. Kitts for existing firms and potential investors. Getting our information on the internet allows us the opportunity to reach a much greater audience across the world especially during these challenging economic times.

“Investment promotion is not a one-shot attempt; sometimes it takes years. However, if we wait until there is an upturn, then we would be missing out. We must therefore use this opportunity to build relationships and strengthen networks with investors.”

Belle also informed that the site would provide a forum for investors to receive feedback on the business sector in St. Kitts and would promote a “healthy investment climate on the island”.

SKIPA was created in December 2007 to proactively promote and generate strategic investments for St. Kitts and to facilitate the establishment and expansion of local and foreign investment projects, while advocating for the continued development and enhancement of the investment environment in St. Kitts.

The agency has four main functions which are Investment Promotion, Investment Facilitation, After Care Services and Policy Advocacy.

Local and regional investors, both established and prospective, can explore the many possibilities of investment in St. Kitts by visiting the website: www.stkittsipa.org.
