Head-on collision leaves five hospitalised

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - IT was sometime after 6:00 this morning (Jan. 11) when emergency crews from the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services and the Emergency Medical Services (EMS) responded to reports of a head-on collision along the western corridor of the island.

The incident occurred in the New Guinea area and resulted in some five individuals being rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital (JNF) for emergency treatment.

This publication understands that the vehicles involved in the nasty crash are motorcar P6070 which was being driven by Jamal Rogers of Farm Site, Sandy Point and motor van PA3571 which was being driven by Gregory Rogers of Halfway Tree.

SKNVibes gathered that both vehicles were travelling in opposite directions with PA3571 travelling towards Basseterre’s, when the head-on collision occurred along the Island’s Main Road.

    J. Rogers and three passengers of PA3571 were reportedly transported to the Joseph N. France General Hospital - according to information reaching this publication - via EMS and private vehicle.

PA3571’s driver however, had some difficulty exiting the vehicle after the crash and had to be extricated by the Sandy Point Branch of the Fire and Rescue Services Department, after which he was transported to the hospital.

Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and while information reaching SKNVibes suggests that the injuries sustained include broken bones, that has yet to be confirmed.

SKNVibes does is not clear as to whether or not the drivers - who share the same last name - share any relation.

The incident is being investigated by the officers of the Sandy Point Police Station.
