Teen shot in Fort Thomas Road

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE young man who was reportedly shot shortly after midnight (Jan. 12) has been identified as the son of politician and candidate for the Unity Movement, Ian ‘Patches’ Liburd.

This was the confirmation given by Public Relations Officer for the Police Force Inspector Lyndon David, who named the victim as “Mikhil Liburd”.

He informed this publication that the 27-year-old Bird Rock resident was attacked by two armed assailants who shot him multiple times and he was rushed to the Joseph N. France General Hospital.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are not too clear at this time, but SKNVibes understands that the young man may have been on his way home when the incident occurred, as it took place in vicinity of or in the yard of his dwelling place.

Inspector David said five individuals were taken into custody in relation to this incident and are assisting the police with their investigations.

Meanwhile, police are investigating another shooting incident that took place on Friday evening (Jan. 10) which left a teenager hospitalised.

A police communiqué declared that officers responded to a Fort Thomas Road shooting at about 8:10 that evening and their investigations revealed that about five minutes prior, 19-year-old Morgan Davis was injured in a drive-by shooting.

“Initial investigation revealed that about 8:05 p.m., Morgan Davis was walking along the Alley leading to Central Thibou Avenue when he was attacked by an unknown assailant(s) from a moving white motor car...”

The release also explained it is possible that Davis was not the intended target.

Individuals who have information about any of these incidents are advised to make contact with the Violent Crime Unit (VCU) at 662-9336 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS).

Inspector David reminded that persons giving their information via TIPS have the benefit of anonymity and advised that the same benefit is extended to those who report their information via the VCU.
