    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – POLICE continue to see success in their quest to rid the Federation of illegal substances with a recent substantial drug find.

     

     

     

    According to a police press release, members of the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force conducted “search operations” in Lodge and Ottleys which led to the removal of thousands of marijuana plants.

     

     

     

    “On 31st January 2009 Police conducted search operations in the Lodge and Ottley’s areas and a total of ten thousand two hundred (10,200) marijuana plants were found growing in several cane fields and were uprooted. The plants ranged in height from seedlings to eight feet. Some were destroyed at the scene and a portion was taken into custody.”

     

     

     

    While no one has been held in connection with the find, the police have informed that they are making investigations.

     

     

     

    ARRESTS

     

     

     

    Travis Clarke of Newcastle, who has been charged with gun-related offences, is among the persons expected to appear before the court shortly to answer to their charges.

     

     

     

    Clarke was arrested and charged after he was “stopped and searched by police on 29th January 2009”, a press release informs. The search took place in Charlestown, Nevis and he was formally charged two days later with “possession of a firearm” and “possession of ammunition”.

     

     

     

    Lorenzo Hendrickson and Kevin Boone of Sandy Point, St. Kitts, along with Danny Galloway of Westbury, Nevis, were charged with the offence of “possession of cannabis”.

     

     

     

    While Hendrickson’s and Boone’s charges resulted from the same incident, Galloway’s was unrelated.

     

     

     

    “Building breaking and larceny” was the charge preferred against Durant Avenue resident Wendell ‘Signature’ Peets. 

     

     

     

    For the offence of “carrying abroad an offensive weapon”, Darryl Sutton of Challengers Village was arrested and charged.

     

     

     

    Jimmy Skelton-Diaz of Durant Avenue, Basseterre and Rafael Antonio of Cunningham Village, Cayon were arrested and charged for unrelated offences of “throwing missiles” and “simple wounding respectively.
