BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE two individuals who were arrested and charged in connection to the burning of the building which housed the offices of the Venezuelan Embassy have been released on bail.

On January 5, 2014, fire fighters were summoned to the scene of a fire at Fortlands and after valiant efforts, they contained and extinguished the fire but not before it gutted the Venezuelan Embassy’s office which was housed in a wooden and concrete structure.

More than two weeks later, the police informed that Andrew ‘Cheeko’ Wilson of Phillip’s had been arrested and charged with “arson” and “malicious damage” in connection with the incident.

And only this week, the authorities further informed that a female, Jazlin Lewis - also of Phillip’s Village - was charged in connection with the fire.

The charge which has been preferred against her - according to a police press release - is “unlawfully and maliciously setting fire to a certain building devoted and dedicated to a public use to wit the Venezuelan Embassy”.

SKNVibes was informed by the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David that both individuals have been granted bail, although this publication is not privy to the specifics of their bail arrangements.
