    St. Pauls – February 3, 2014 - The S.L. Horsford St. Pauls Football Club is happy to report that on Wednesday January 29, 2014 general elections were held for a Management Committee to run the affairs of its organization for the next 2 years. As per the 1995 constitution of the club, seven positions were contested. The posts of President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant Treasurer and two (2) ordinary members. The post of team manager and two (2) ex-officio members are to be appointed by the Management Committee at its first meeting.

     

    Nominations were opened from January 15-22, 2014; there were a full slate of candidates received for each position. The slate was nominated by, most Senior Team Member Mr. Marvin ‘Kimbi’ Buchanan and Current Team Captain Mr. Thrizen ‘Jammas’ Leader. The elections were conducted by Mr. Franklyn Maitland, Auditor, Certified Professional Accountant, former General Secretary of the St. Kitts-Nevis Football Association and President of the Ram’s Village Superstars Football Club. The roll call done by Mr. Maitland indicated that there were 30 members present of whom all were eligible to vote, one member  was absent and two who were currently overseas.

     

    The following persons were duly nominated to the respective positions and ran uncontested. Donald Freeman, President with 30 votes, Mr Dwyer Edmeade,Vice President with 30 votes, Mr John Gumbs. Secretary with 29 votes, Mr Nelvin Maynard, Treasurer with 29 votes, Mr Yazim Leader, Assistant Treasurer with 29 votes and ordinary members Mr Delvin Harris and Mr Leroy Francis, 29 and 28 votes respectively.

    This team brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in football matters and a variety of expertise in other areas to the Management of our great Club. President elect Donald Freeman said, his team was minded to be totally committed to raising the bar in all respects when it comes to the affairs of this community entrenched organization. 

    All elected members extended gratitude to the membership for their vote of confidence. President Donald ‘Banga’ Freeman brings over 15 years of experience at the helm along with former players John Gumbs former team coach and former National Defender Leroy ‘Yaga’ Francis. There exists a tower of youthfulness in this newly elected executive. Treasurer Maynard holds an undergraduate degree in Accounts and is on his way to becoming CPA qualified, Mr Edmeade holds an undergraduate in computing while Mr Harris holds similar qualifications in statistics. The youngest member Yazim Leader is a CFBC graduate and certainly a future university graduate.

    This Management Committee is therefore well posed to do our Club proud and has set as immediate priorities the modernization of our constitution, the expansion of our membership, continued participation in the affairs of our community through our academic scholarships and other outreach activities, playing a greater role in youth development and surpass our latest Senior team performances.

    The new Management Committee wishes to thank their fans, community and sponsors. The S.L. Horsfords Company Limited has been at our side for the last two (2) decades.
