Basseterre, St.Kitts (February 5, 2014):- Once more the illegitimate Prime Minister has shown gross insensitivity and lack of sensibility to the nation. At a time when citizens and residents are justifiably concerned over the spate of recent dangerous fires, the illegitimate minority leader used his Party’s Rally to incite his diehards to “burn dem out”.
Douglas maliciously coined the “burn dem out” slogan to remind people of his public declaration that, he, Douglas, knows how to incite. Given Douglas’ track record and public declaration of his powers at incitement, his vain and belated attempt to digress by saying “Not in that sense” tells us Douglas knew well what he had led his diehards to think. The Hon Mark Brantley, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly rightly condemned Douglas inflammatory and foolish remarks in the context of the unprecedented fires for the year so far that have devastated several properties
It is not the first time for the year that Douglas has made grossly irresponsible statements. Recall that before the investigations were complete in the Venezuelan Embassy fire Douglas without a scintilla of evidence labeled the fires as acts of arson motivated by politics. Douglas was looking for political advantage at a time of national tragedy. An occasion to unite was used by Douglas to divide and undermine public confidence in the fire investigation. Acting Fire Chief, Mr Ogarro had made it clear that he could not determine the cause of the fire at the Venezuelan Embassy, but our illegitimate Prime Minister was prepared to say what the fire expert could not say. How callous and outrageous of minority leader Douglas?
That seems to be his modus operandi, for at the said Rally Douglas told us that his minority Party was not ready for an election and that he the illegitimate Prime Minister would hold off on the elections until he thinks his Party had the advantage.We have warned our country about and Dr. Sharon McNichol also raised the spectre of a creeping dictatorship in St Kitts and Nevis. We warn the country that these efforts by Douglas Party at paramountcy are undermining our democracy while Douglas seeks to entrench a one party state. Douglas’refusal to table the motion of no confidence, the illegal registration of students, and the illegal registration of persons in constituencies in which they do not live are part of dictatorship, which the Douglas regime is trying to consolidate in St Kitts and Nevis.
Douglas is a lawless leader; indeed he is acting as Prime Minister in contravention of section 52 of the constitution which requires that to do so, he should command the support of a majority of Members of Parliament. Six of the elected members of parliament are not supporting Douglas leadership.
Douglas if he loves the country ought by now to have called fresh elections. He knows he will lose any general election. He prefers to rob us of our freedom for his own self interest. We must stop the madness of our out of touch leader who is lost amidst his own delusions.
St Kitts and Nevis deserves a better leader.
A leader who will redeem the good name of St Kitts and Nevis and bring better democracy and prosperity to our people. We thank god that Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, Leader of Team Unity is ready, willing and able to fill the leadership void and ask for God’s continuing blessings on him.
