Press Release

FEBRUARY 5, 2014  --  The Ministry of Communications and Works is preparing to register the Berthing Agreements signed on January 17, 2014 between the BVI Ports Authority and Norwegian Cruise Lines (NCL) and Disney Cruise Lines (DCL).

The Ministry has been working with the BVI Ports Authority to ensure full transparency of the cruise project including appropriate disclosures of the berthing agreements.

Out of concern for adhering to the confidentiality clauses within the Agreements, the Ministry and the BVI Ports Authority felt it prudent to secure a release from NCL and DCL before registering the Agreements.

As Minister, I can confirm that NCL and DCL have indicated that they have no objections to the release, therefore the registration of the agreements under the Registration and Records Act is underway and should be completed imminently.

The Government of the Virgin Islands and the BVI Ports Authority remains committed to full transparency and bringing this project to fruition and will continue to work in the best interest of the Public.
