Man injured at Nevis bar, conflicting information surfaces about circumstances

By: Terresa McCall, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St Kitts - THE authorities would have to sift through conflicting information about an incident which left a Fountain Village, Nevis man hospitalised and nursing a wound to his mouth.

A police communique issued today (Feb. 9) indicated that Wayne Ferlance suffered “non-threatening oral injuries from a weapon” as a result of the incident. SKNVibes understands that it occurred at approximately 10:30 last evening.

However, the police press release suggests that the authorities have received more than one version of the circumstances of the incident.

Ferlance “was at the Enrique's Bar on Main Street in Charlestown when he alleges that he was attacked by an unknown male assailant. However, police received information to the contrary that he was involved in a verbal altercation with a known male”, the release informed.

On the one hand, this publication received information which suggested that Ferlance’s wound was inflicted with a firearm and on the other, further information suggests that this may not have been the case. With a view to shedding more light on the incident, the “known male” - according to the press release - is being sought by police “for questioning”.

Persons having knowledge of the incident or circumstances which surround it are asked to make contact with the Violent Crime Unit at 469-5392, ext. 27 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477 (TIPS), and can do so on condition of anonymity.

The press release quotes Commissioner of Police Celvin CG Walwyn in his plea for persons with information to come forward and relay it to the authorities.

“...there were other patrons present when this incident occurred. This is not the time to remain silent, please come forward and assist the police with this investigation. Together, we must put an end to criminal activity in Nevis...”

Commissioner Walwyn can also be contacted via 662-2145 and information about the incident can be divulged anonymously.
