What Kittitians say about homosexuality...

By: Staff Reporter, SKNVibes.com

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – SOME statistics and schools of thought suggest that more than 30% percent of the world’s population comprises homosexuals or persons who are engaged in related practices. But as this trend continues to grow, what do Kittitians say about it?

SKNVibes combed through the streets of downtown Basseterre to ask persons about their views on the above topic. More than 20 individuals were interviewed and those quoted would be identified by their occupation. The top six responses were as follows.

Question: With the growing international trend of homosexual practices, how do you think the Federation could be affected by this and do you think the laws (legalising homosexuality) should be passed in the Caribbean?

Pharmacist – “To be honest I have no problem with them but there are some that overdo it at times. You go in town and there just there dressing like the opposite sex, and it looks bad because tourist sometimes watch and have to wonder if it is man or a woman.

“I won’t agree with a law being passed in the Caribbean”.

Electrician – “I personally don’t agree with it. It is wrong and they should desist from it. I mean when all of this started to happen in St. Kitts we got to sit and wonder where we went wrong and correct it.

“I don’t think we should take that route and go legalize it”.

Teacher – “It happens all over the world. I was in England a couple months back and I saw men walking, holding hands while some where getting really close. The women were worst and it is acceptable there.

“I don’t think we ready to go deep in that sin”.

Student – “I have many friends who are gay and I accept them that way because we are all humans. I hate when people talk them down because they are people just like us but with different emotions.

“Personally even if I agree on it, the general populace would disagree.”

Labourer – “I don’t agree with it at all. It is wrong not only by law but by the creator. But with the changing times and how this world going everybody got they life to live and decisions to make.

“If indeed it becomes law I won’t support it.”

Vendor – “It is very embarrassing to see people behaving like that and sometimes I stop them and ask them why but the Anti-Christ coming so all this is just signs.

“I won’t agree with such legislation.”
