(CHARLESTOWN, NEVIS- Friday, Februay 13th, 2009) At a Town Hall meeting at the old St. John’s School in Brown Pasture, Premier of Nevis, Hon. Joseph Parry said, the Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) 2006 manifesto is a manifesto of relevance!

Speaking at the meeting Tuesday night, Premier Parry said that this was the first time in the history of Nevis where a manifesto had been 95 percent implemented in such a short period of time.

"We have seen many manifestos that have had no relevance to the country; and if you read the manifesto of the opposition in the last election one will see that it made no sense. What the NRP focused on was the training, development and employment of the people," he said.

Premier Parry stated that no one can fairly say that the Nevis Reformation Party did not create jobs during their administration. Employment has been made available in Nevis with jobs in construction, trucking and positions in sales and communications. He went on to say that the Housing Corporation under the NRP has expanded and that persons throughout the island have been able to gain full employment as a result.

The Premier noted that there had been little or no training under the former Administration for nurses, teachers and other professionals. The current Administration, led by the Nevis Reformation Party, however, has been pushing the empowerment of Nevisians through Training and Education.

He went on to state that five young people have shown an interest in undergoing training in nursing; and that on Deputy Premier Hensley Daniel’s next trip to Cuba, the Minister will seek to get training and educational assistance for those who wish to receive it.

During the meeting Premier Parry also highlighted the importance of a diversified economy. His Government's thrust towards the development of Geothermal energy is just one activity among the multifaceted approach they intend to take to bring jobs and investors to the island. The alternative source of energy, he said, will go a long way in easing consumers' financial burden.

The Premier told the audience that a rather productive meeting between Minister of Public Utilities, Hon Earl Asim Martin of St. Kitts and Hon Carlisle Powell of Nevis took place Tuesday morning. As a matter of fact, he was able to quote the Hon. Martin as saying that he wishes to see the switches for geothermal energy go off on both islands simultaneously!

Hon. Parry concluded, "The Nevis Reformation Party was elected to represent the people of Nevis well; and to make sure that the country moves forward even through this bad economy. The Four Seasons is closed, there is a recession on, but we are still doing well and better than most! I believe by the end of the year we will be steaming forward full speed ahead!"
