February 17, 2014 -- The Ministry of Telecommunications, Science and Technology helped to spread love on Valentine’s Day with a donation of computer hardware and high speed internet to the National and Vocational Rehabilitation Center for Disabilities (NVRCD).
The donation was made under the multi-faceted Human Entrepreneurship & Assistive Resource Technologies (HEART) programme which will among other things help to provide better standards for the physically or otherwise challenged.
“The Government is spending resources to look after vulnerable groups. No one is being left behind.” Minister of Telecommunications, Science and Technology Dr. Hon. Edmond Mansoor said.
Director at the (NVRCD) Emelda Wade-Carbon thanked the ministry and noted persons with disabilities are capable of utilizing technology. She pointed out that Assistive technology enables students with disabilities to compensate for the impairments they experience.
“You have delivered before and we have no doubt that you will do so again. We are very thankful that you continue to work with us to help our very special people with disabilities achieve their goal in life.” Wade-Carbon said.
A number of desks and chairs were also donated and a security system will be put in place shortly.
