St. Thomas, U.S.V.I. - At 4:12 p.m. on Friday, February 13, Major Crime Detectives on St. Thomas arrested 30-year-old Neville Potter Jr. in connection with the double murder of 52-year-old John Diehl and 24-year-old Marvis Chamaro. Diehl and Chamaro died after being shot on Sunday, February 8 in the Mandahl Bay area of St. Thomas.

Potter, who lives in Bovoni, was arrested based on a warrant by Judge James Carroll III dated February 13. He is charged with Murder in the First Degree, Murder in the Second Degree, Assault First and Possession of an Unlicensed Firearm During the Commission of a Crime of Violence. He was held without bail pending further court action.

Major Crime Detectives said Diehl was outside his home when he was shot. Chamaro just happened to be in the area, according to police.

"Our hearts go out to the family and friends of John Diehl and Marvis Chamaro," said Commissioner James H. McCall. "We are grateful for all the assistance from the community who came forward with information on this case."

The Commissioner congratulated the Major Crime Detectives, Chief of Police Rodney F. Querrard, the Forensic Investigators and all other police and law enforcement officers who worked on this case. "The officers did an excellent job investigating this case."
