Families donate to the new Peebles Hospital pledge programme

    February 20th, 2014  --  Mr. James Winston Halliday Sr. visited Peebles Hospital on Monday 17th, February and presented the Director of Hospital Services, Mrs. Cedorene Malone-Smith with a check for $1000.00 in Honour of Halliday Insurance Agency Ltd. – The British Virgin Health Services Authority has received an additional two donations this week to aid in outfitting of the New Peebles Hospital.

     

    Mr. Halliday said “The Hospital has been good to me and my family over the years, and when I saw the launch programme, I knew I had to make a donation.”
     
    Additionally a local family who wishes to remain anonymous at this time has donated $4,000.00 to go towards the Pediatric Ward for the new Hospital.
     
    Speaking today on ZROD 103.7 FM radio station morning programme, Mrs. Malone-Smith stated that the community contributions to the new Hospital will benefit everyone and encourage persons to make a donation.”
     
    The New Peebles Hospital Pledge Programme was launched on 13th February, 2014 in the new Hospital Chapel. The Minister for Health and Social Development, the Hon. Ronnie W. Skelton stated that, “The total budget for medical equipment to outfit the new Peebles Hospital is estimated at 10 million and while the pledge programme is not expected to cover all costs, it is hoped that the pledge programme will raise at least half of the total cost.
     
    The at the launch of the New Peebles Hospital Pledge Programme, the Social Security Board pledge 1.5 million dollars, the National Bank of the Virgin Islands Pledge $6,500.00 and the Rotary Club of Tortola is holding fundraisers aimed at generating a minimum of $50,000.00.
