BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - THE Preliminary Inquiry (PI) into the murder of Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier got underway earlier this week, with the individuals charged with the offence appearing at the hearing.

SKNVibes understands that the three who were initially charged for the crime - and the fourth who was subsequently charged - were present at the PI where it would be decided whether or not the Crown has sufficient evidence to proceed with a case against them.

‘Sword’ was shot to death on June 2, 2013 after exiting a church service at the Rivers of Living Water Christian Centre in Lime Kiln.

The three who were initially charged with his murder are: Sylvester ‘Syl’ Crossley of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre; Shane Amory of New Road Housing and Vance Thomas of Fort Thomas Road, Basseterre. They were charged an approximate week after the offence was committed and a fourth individual was being sought by the authorities.

A police press release issued on June 29, 2013 informed that a warrant of arrest had been issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force for the arrest of Kimo Flemming of Trafalgar Village in relation to the incident and it was not until last week that he was nabbed by the local authorities.

In a release issued yesterday (Feb. 21) by the Police Force’s Press and Public Relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David, it was disclosed that Flemming - “a wanted fugitive in the cowardly and senseless murder of Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier...has been arrested in Antigua and deported to the Federation.

“Flemming, who is allegedly the son of slain community leader, Noel ‘Zambo’ Heath, fled the Federation after his picture was featured as a person of interest in Sword’s murder...

The release explained that the wanted man was formally charged with Sword’s murder on Sunday (Feb. 16).
