“Delusional Douglas Unfit to lead the country” says St. Kitts-Nevis Prime Minister designate, Dr the Hon Timothy Harris

Public Meeting in Saddlers Feb 20th 2014
By: Team UNITY, Press Release

BASSETERRE St. Kitts, February 23rd, 2014  --  The man nominated to be the Prime Minister of the Federation of St.Kitts-Nevis , by a Majority six(6) of the eleven (11) elected Members of Parliament in keeping with section 52 of the St.Kitts-Nevis Constitution has described a recent Press Conference by the illegitimate Dr. Denzil Douglas regime as an exercise in futility.

The Leader of the Majority of Elected Members of Parliament Dr. Harris  said, Douglas’s remarks at the hurriedly convened Press Conference with the Cabinet showed that the minority Leader and illegitimate Prime Minister had long lost legitimacy, credibility and believability.

Dr Harris, who as Minister of Finance in 2008 and 2009 was the first Minister of Finance since 1995 to return the country to unprecedented surpluses of over $100 million in 2008 and 2009  respectively, told Winn Fm’s Clive Bachus that the Country is in an economic quagmire and the minority Leader is delusional to say at his Press Conference that the country is doing well. Dr Harris asked, “How can a country with a debt to GDP ratio 105 percent be said to be doing well when the acceptable standard is 60 percent? You are 75 percent above the acceptable standard and the misleader tells you it is good?”

The Ph.D. in accounting graduate continued, “You have a poverty rate of 33 percent(%), you have an unemployment rate of 25 percent(%) and the majority cannot pay their electricity bills and their water bills. When you have a country under-performing in its growth rate of less than 2 percent(%) against four (4) consecutive years of negative growth and against the ECCB’s Monetary Council prescription of 3 to 5 percent growth, you begin to understand that this man does not understand economics and it is a shame for him to be charged with the responsibility of leading the country”.

Dr. Harris enjoys the support of the Majority of Elected Parliamentarians to be the federation’s next Prime Minister. In addition all recent polls including two conducted by noted Jamaican pollster Don Anderson have indicated that Dr. Harris has an almost 70% favorability rating as Prime Minister of St.Kitts-Nevis.
