On Thursday 20th  February 2014 between 7:00 pm and 8:30 pm, the New Castle Police Station held a Community Policing meeting at the Butler's Community Centre, which had an attendance of members of the community and other police officers of the Nevis Division. Assistant Commissioner of Police for Nevis, Mr Robert Liburd and other Gazetted Officers were also in attendance.

The purpose of the meeting was generate discussions on community safety, and to gain ideas from the residents on how best the Police Force can serve the community.  Inspector Belgrove of Nevis CID presented a number of Crime Prevention tips and how to use the Crime Stoppers programme.

Citizens are encouraged to use the 1-800-8477 number to call Crime Stoppers. They were again told that when a local person calls the 1 800 8477 number their phone number is not show and the people in Canada answering the phone will not ask their name. If the information turns out to be something the police can use, the person might be eligible to get some money. Inspector Belgrove encouraged the citizens to make the call.
