BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - ATHLETES representing Red House at the Washington Archibald High School once again exhibited their unmatched athletic prowess as they dominated that school’s Sports Day.

In front of a packed Silver Jubilee Stadium, top athletes from the reigning Inter-School Champions came out in full force on Sunday (Feb. 23) putting on a spectacular show of athleticism.

However it was red house fans and athletes who were left cheering after the blew away their competition, dominating the days proceedings from start to finish.

The event saw a host of top performances from many athletes.

Dominating the sprints in the junior boys category was Orange House’s Chrislorn Baptise who won the 200 and 400 metres, showing that he was a class above his other competitions while setting new school records in both events.

Red House’s Hannah Mills stood out in the U-16 category winning all the sprint events in which she participated, setting new records in each event including a 12.24-second sprint in the 100m.

Top performances also came from Anwar Springer who triumphed in a variety of events in the oys’ intermediate category.

The stand out athletes of the day however were Kishonna Brooks and her brother Javone Brooks who both dominated their categories across varying events.

Kishonna first won the 200m just missing the record, before winning and setting new marks in the 800m 100m and 400m. She was also an integral part of blue house’s 4x100m  and 4x400m teams relay.

Her brother on the other hand won the U-16 200m, 800m and 400m. He was however edged at the line by his teammate Springer at the line in the 100m.

Another stand-out performer was Samuel Oyebefun who won the U-20 200 and 400 meters, setting new records for both events. Oyebefun was also involved in the climax, the final race of the evening when he almost erased a 100 metre deficit while running the anchor leg during the 4x400m. He however failed in pulling off a fairy tail ending for his house.

With such performances, many pundits have tipped the athletes of Washington Archibald High School to regain the TDC Inter-School Championships which they have dominated over the past two years.
