Cricket to return to Warner Park this weekend

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts - CRICKET will return to Warner Park on Saturday (Mar. 1) where the Leeward Islands will take on Combined Campuses & Colleges in the WICB’s regional Four-Day competition. 

     

    The Warner Park Cricket Stadium has been experiencing months of work at the facility to equip it with floodlights in order to facilitate night cricket. It has also been fitted with a jumbotron. 

     

    On From Saturday March, 1 to Tuesday March 4, the St Kitts Cricket Association (SKCA) will host the first of two WICB regional 4-day games at Warner Park Cricket Stadium, St Kitts, featuring the home team Leeward Islands. 

     

    And featured on that team are Kittitian Akeem Saunders and Nevisian Tonito Willet. 

     

    The match starts 10 a.m. daily and admission in free.

     

    One week later, history is expected to be made at Warner Park when Leeward Islands take on Jamaica in a day/night encounter. It is during this event that the new lights at Warner Park would make their debut and that event runs from March 7 - 10. 

     

    The match starts at 3:00 p.m. daily and a $10 admission fee would be required.

    The game however, will be free to all primary and high schools students in St. Kitts and Nevis.
     

     

    The Leeward Islands players selected for the first game are Tonito Willett, Lyndell Richardson, Akeem Saunders, Jahmar Hamilton, Montcin Hodge, Sylvester Joseph, Alzarri Joseph, Anthony Martin, Mali Richards, Gavin Tonge, Hayden Walsh Jr and Kelbert Walters.
