March 26, 2014 -- Every month upwards of 5000 persons are accessing free healthcare services in their communities. Currently a network of twenty-eight medical clinics offer a wide range of healthcare services on site.
The United Progressive Party (UPP) Government has expanded the services available at some district medical clinics.
This includes the screening and delivery of affordable dental and eye care services to a number of people in the communities. Medical Benefits Scheme (MBS) satellite pharmacies have also been added at some locations.
In an effort to maximize the reach of services offered, extended hours have been incorporated at some medical clinics which now remain open until 9:00 p.m.
Dr. Philmore Benjamin commended the government’s commitment to improve health care for the residents of Antigua & Barbuda. He noted preventative medicine starts in the community.
Meanwhile the Cedar Grove community will soon have its own district clinic as government prepares to open a facility in the community. MP for the area John Maginley said the opening of the clinic is a campaign promise fulfilled.
Government will continue to roll out initiatives that are aimed at making free Health Services available to Antiguan’s and Barbudan’s.
