April 10th, 2014 -- Following the death of the former Prime Minster and President of Trinidad and Tobago, Arthur Napoleon Raymond Robinson, the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda, Dr. Hon. Winston Baldwin Spencer, has issued the statement below:
"As Prime Minister and President of Trinidad and Tobago, A.N.R. Robinson was a leader who made a major contribution to his country during some of its most difficult times.
An exemplary Caribbean statesman who made his mark on the international stage, especially with his proposal for the now highly-respected International Criminal Court, Mr. Robinson was a brave and visionary leader who showed many of the best qualities our region has to offer the world.
He served with distinction at every level of politics in his country and in the West Indies Federation, and his legacy will remain strong amongst those of us who fight for justice and democracy in the Caribbean and worldwide.
"My thoughts and prayers, and those of the people of Antigua and Barbuda, are with his family and the people of Trinidad and Tobago on this very sad occasion.”
