Basseterre, St. Kitts (April 11th, 2014) – The Digicel SKNHAPPY Campaign continued with its mission on Friday 11th April by bringing smiles to the children currently warded at the Joseph N. France Hospital in St. Kitts.
The Digicel SKN Family liaised with kites sponsored by Party Central, teamed up with students of the Ross University, The Josh Project, to spend the morning decorating kites for Easter with the children on the Paediatric Ward.
The children though sick, were very excited to have visitors with gifts and decorated their kites with lots of glitter, paint, feathers and markers provided by the Josh Project.
The nursing staff also expressed their pleasure in having the team share in the activities with the children and to help lift their spirits, but the Digicel team was not finished yet!
Digicel’s CEO Johnny Ingle also handed over a cheque of $1,000 to the Assistant Matron, to aid with supplies for the specific Ward. Ingle expressed, “Today is a gesture in support of the children here at the Hospital & the Digicel team is delighted to make a contribution of $1,000 to the Paediatric Unit; most importantly, the kites are magnificent and the children will enjoy them immensely! On a personal note, it is also wonderful to see the great care provided by the medical staff – many thanks for the very warm welcome we received - and keep up the great work!”
Nurse Miranda Langley graciously accepted the donation on behalf of the Ministry of Health and gave assurance that the funds will be put to good use.
The mid-morning activity ended with a kite display infront of the “Under the Sea” mural, which was designed by hand, sketched and painted by Ross University’s Josh Project Team. The colourful animation depicted on the walls of the Paediatric Ward serve as a constant reminder for children to always be happy, even while recovering from illness.
The Digicel St. Kitts and Nevis Family expresses thanks to Generation Change (Party Central), The Josh Project and the Nurses at the Paediatric Ward for having assisted us with making Easter happy and bright for the children.
