Basseterre, April 24th 2014 - According to an Oxford Dictionary, the “definition of a woman is an adult human female.” We are not just soley that, women are mothers, wives, caregivers, sisters, leaders, even bosses and the list goes on. We have always been deemed as the “weaker sex” because of our gender whilst having a disability is no exemption.
The St.Kitts Nevis Association of persons with disabilities (SKNAPD) founded it’s first ever Women's Network. As a small and vibrant network with room to grow, we are consisted of women with and or without a disability working together for equality and human rights for women in St kitts & Nevis. This network came about on January 24, 2013. "Our mission is to build partnerships and provide a strong support system” by breaking down barriers and sensitizing the general public of who we are and what we are about.
Embracing who we are, not only as women with disabilities but...'Women'.
We have been given the oportunity to use this platform to share our literature, challenges in life, blessings and experiences. Hoping to help others to implement us to find their voice.
We are also members of the “Disabled People International- North America & the Caribbean (DPI-NAC) regional women’s network.
