BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, APRIL 26TH 2014 (TUCOM):-Leader of Team UNITY Dr. Timothy Harris is reiterating his historic Team UNITY Team’s commitment to the pursuance of an equitable and cordial relationship between the Federal Government and The Nevis Island Administration and the people of Nevis. Dr Harris gave his assurance that the NIA and the people of Nevis will be given its due respect and cooperation by a Federal Government led by his Team UNITY. Dr Harris said that a Team UNITY government will provide a much better arrangement for Nevis.
The Team UNITY Leader said, “I give the people of Nevis my assurance that the Team UNITY Government will ensure that fairness and equity governs the relationship between the Federal Government and the Nevis Island Administration. Nevis will be given it’s fair share of foreign aid and assistance.”
“Nevis will be equitably represented in our Embassies and with respect to the SIDF. Nevis deserves its due share. It is not a favour to have access to the SIDF resources. The people of Nevis have just as much right to access to the funds and to benefit from such funds as any other born and bred national and citizen of this country. We are all brothers and sisters. Nevisians are Kittitian just as Kittitians are Nevisian. They are us and We are them,” Dr Harris continued
The dynamic Leader, who also commands the support of the Elected Majority of Parliamentarians in the St.Kitts-Nevis Assembly, also expressed his disappointment in the continued efforts by the illegitimate Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas led Federal government to undermine the sitting CCM Led Nevis Island Administration in Nevis.
Dr Harris declared “The illegitimate Prime Minister Douglas needs to divorce his personal and political feelings towards the CCM Led NIA and understand that while he illegally continues to occupy the seats of the Federal Government he and the illegitimate administration which he leads have a constitutional obligation to the NIA and the people of Nevis. His personal feelings should not interfere with his constitutionally mandated responsibility to fairly facilitate and support the activities and affairs of the people of Nevis in the interest of ALL Nevisians and Kittitians. His recent maneuverings is yet a further indication that his arrogant, sinister, vindictive style of leadership and governance is not good for the people of Nevis and the country. The people of Nevis have experienced financial terrorism under Dr. Douglas’ leadership.”
Dr Harris further declared his full support for Premier Vance Amory and the people of Nevis.
He said “We stand with Premier Vance Amory and all Civil Sevants who experienced financial uncertainty, and the people of Nevis who have to be subjected to the petty, divisive and vindictive leadership of Dr. Denzil Douglas.
Included in Team UNITY’s unprecedented “Prosperity Agenda” is constitutional reform which will include improvements and or enhancements to the current constitutional relationship and arrangements between the two islands with a view to ensuring greater equitability and fairness.
