BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE clearance sale is over as the doors to one of St. Kitts’ most popular and cost-friendly stores were closed to the public on Saturday, April 26, 2014.

The store, Shoppers Plaza, which was located on the Bay Road opposite the General Post Office in Basseterre, was one of the business places that offered customers quality products from children and adults clothing to gift items and electrical appliances at relatively cheap prices.

SKNVibes Business had wind of its closure a few weeks ago but, on a visit to the store, was unable to reach the relevant authority for a comment. However, while there, many customers were busily selecting various items that were on sale at reduced prices.

Some of them were very vocal on learning about the closure of the business place.

“I could always come to this store and get something for my children and even myself at a price that is lower than many of the other outlets in Basseterre,” one female shopper said.

“Well, is everywhere you turn in St. Kitts you hearing about this place and that place closing down. I wonder where the employees going to find another job. Shoppers Plaza is my favourite store; not only because you can get almost anything you need, but also at a very cheap price,” were the sentiments expressed by a mother of six.

This publication was contacted on Sunday (Apr. 26) by junior manager of the company that owns Shoppers Plaza and was told that there would be a reopening of the store in about two months time.

He stated that the parent company is currently in search of an appropriate building to rent and that they would be back in business shortly to serve their valued customers.

Word on the street suggests that the building in which Shoppers Plaza was housed would shortly be occupied by the Inland Revenue Department.
