BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – THE St. Kitts national, for whom a wanted bulletin was issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force and was captured in St. Maarten on Good Friday (Apr. 18), was recently charged and remanded to Her Majesty’s Prison.

According to Police Press and Public relations Officer Inspector Lyndon David, 43-year-old Kenneth Crossley of Upper College Street, Basseterre was taken into police custody on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 and “I am once again soliciting your assistance and cooperation by informing the public of him being taken into police custody and to remove the wanted poster from circulation”.

Inspector David also informed that Crossley was charged and is currently a guest at Her Majesty’s Prison awaiting trial.

He further informed that “Commissioner CG Walwyn therefore takes this opportunity to thank the various law enforcement bodies throughout the region and individuals who had assisted in the capture of the fugitive”.

Crossley, a fisherman by trade, was wanted for Escaping Lawful Custody on Tuesday, August 20, 2013.

On Wednesday (Apr. 23), The St. Kitts-Nevis Observer had reported that Crossley was caught in St. Maarten and brought back to St. Kitts on the same day.

According to that local media house, it had sought confirmation from Commissioner Walwyn, who said that Crossley was in police custody in St. Maarten and was expected to be returned to St. Kitts on Wednesday (Apr. 23).

The media house noted that the Commissioner commended persons who posted tips to the police website and called in to Crime Stoppers.

“They may run, but they can’t hide,” The Observer quoted Commissioner Walwyn as saying. “This is the second fugitive to be caught in one of the surrounding islands, showing a new zero-tolerance for not permitting fugitives from St. Kitts-Nevis to hide in their countries…thanks to tips from our social media (Facebook and Twitter), email, and Crime Stoppers.”

On Thursday (Feb. 20, a police communiqué stated that “Kimo Flemming of Trafalgar Village, a wanted fugitive in the cowardly and senseless murder of Sheldon ‘Sword’ Cannonier, killed after leaving a Sunday church service, has been arrested in Antigua and deported to the Federation. Flemming, who is allegedly the son of slain community leader, Noel ‘Zambo’ Heath , fled the Federation after his picture was featured as a person of interest in Sword’s murder”.

The communiqué also stated that through diligent investigations and advanced systematic searches throughout the Eastern Caribbean, Flemming was located in Antigua and returned to the Federation by the Violent Crimes Unit of the RSCNPF.

“Flemming, who illegally entered Antigua, was taken before Antigua's Magistrate Court upon his capture where he was convicted and deemed a prohibited immigrant and an order of deportation was put in effect,” it added.

On Sunday (Feb. 16), he was formally arrested and charged for the murder of Cannonier, who was killed at Lime Kiln on Sunday, June 2, 2013.
