BASSETERRE, ST. KITTS, May 4th 2014 (TUCOM) -- Excitement and positive energy pervaded the streets of constituency #7 on Saturday afternoon as hundreds of people organized themselves in vehicles to participate in a most enjoying whistle stop originating at Black Rocks Pasture in Belle Vue.
The whistle stop winded its way through Saddlers bringing the community in #6, alive to the news that a change in government is coming. It then grew geometrically in numbers as it made its way through Tabernacle Village, the hometown of Dr the Hon Timothy Harris, the man designated to be our next Prime Minister. From Tabernacle the whistle stop proceeded to Mansion, Christ Church, Molyneux, Phillips Village, Lodge Village, Lodge Project, Ottleys and Cayon from which it pivoted back to Mansion Village for an evening of socialization.
As the whistle stop entered the villages large crowds of supporters congregated and blew whistles and shouted, “Harris Again.” It was a fantastic feeling to witness the warmth and love of the constituency for a Member of Parliament who has labored long and hard and delivered handsomely to his constituents.
Dr Harris superb record of accomplishments in constituency 7 includes hundreds of homes distributed to the people. Ample visible evidence is seen in Belle Vue, Tabernacle, Mansion, Christ Church, Molyneux, Phillips, Lodge Village, Lodge Project and Ottleys. 2 new Primary Schools were built – the Violet Petty Primary School in Lodge Project and Estridge Primary School in Mansion. A community centre , Day Care Centre, Post Office, Police Station, Pavillion at Mansion, Hard court at Phillips, bus stands, ATM machines, scholarships for primary school students and students at other institutions of learning, Agricultural Outreach Centres, land and other support, example greenhouse and shadehouses for farmers; jobs , etc.
Dr Harris continues his advocacy on behalf of his constituents particularly demanding a brand new Mary Charles Hospital providing expanded services including maternity services, Accident & Emergency services. Under Marcella LIburd’s watch as Minster of Health the deterioration of Mary Charles Hospital has worsened and the Tabernacle Health Centre had to be abandoned.
Dr Harris has shown concerned for the progressive development of the young people and wants them to achieve success in all areas of endeavours. He has championed the cause for fairness in land distribution and spoke out against the betrayal of the people and the sale of their patrimony by the Douglas regime.
This plus his opposition to the Increase in Senators Bill led to his appointment as a Minister being revoked. The Senators Bill was a cunning device by Denzil Douglas to increase the number of unelected members in Parliament to buffer him with legislation to sell out our country and to preserve his outnumbered way of leadership to the country. Dr Harris rightly opposed it.
It is a genuine love affair between Dr Harris and his constituents. We thank the people of constituency 7 for their overwhelming support for Dr Harris.
