    ARRESTS

     

    BASSETERRE St. Kitts, May 8th, 2014  --  Derrick Hazel of Crab Hill was formally arrested and charged for the offence of Obstruction, which was committed at Main Street, Sandy Point on 6/5/2014. 

    Michael Samuel of Buckley's was formally arrested and charged for the offences of  Possession of cannabis and Possession with intent to supply which were committed on 4/5/2014 and 14/4/2014.

    Selwyn Pringle of Dieppe Bay was formally arrested and charged for the offence of Driving Under The Influence Of Alcohol, which was committed at Newton Ground on 6/5/2014. 

    COURT CONVICTIONS 

    District "A" Magistrate's Court

    Adrington "Dutts" Govia of Thibou Avenue, Basseterre was convicted for the Larceny which was committed on 27/3/2014, and sentenced to twelve (12) months in prison. 

    Howard Browne of Rawlins Road, Gingerland, was convicted for the the offence Being Found Hidden in the Electrical Conduit Compartment of the Motor Vessel Lady Mignonne that travelled from Nevis to St. Kitts on April 25, 2014 and was destined to Saint Maarten that same day for some Unlawful Purpose namely to Smuggle Himself into Saint Maarten, Netherlands Antilles, and deemed to be a Rogue and a Vagabond and sentenced to four (4) months in prison.
    District "C" Magistrate's Court

    Amado Ottley of Hanley's Road, Gingerland was convicted for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention which was committed at Pump Road on 11/4/2014, and fined $800.00 which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve one (1) month in prison with hard labour. 

    Hamil James of Stoney Grove was convicted for the offence of Driving Without Due Care and Attention which was committed at Charlestown on 20/2/2014, and fined $800.00 which is to be paid in one (1) month  or in default will serve one (1)  month in prison with hard labour. 

    Glenville Boddie Jr. of Rawlins Road, Gingerland was convicted for the offences of Driving Without Insurance, Driving Without The Consent Of The Owner, Driving Without A Driver's License, and Driving Without Due Care and Attention which were committed at Stoney Grove on 22/1/2014. He was fined $500.00 for Driving without Insurance, which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve three (3) months in prison with hard labour , $500 for Driving Without The Consent Of The Owner which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve three  (3) months in prison with hard labour, $800.00 for Driving Without a Driver's License, which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve three (3) months in prison, and $500.00 for Driving Without Due Care and Attention, which is to be paid in three (3)  months or in default will serve three (3) months in prison. 

    Dwayne Matthew of Lodge Project was convicted for the offence of Possession of Cannabis which was committed Charlestown on 25/4/2014, and fined $1000.00 which is to be paid in three (3) months or in default will serve six (6) months in prison. 

    Keith Braide  of Government  Road was convicted for the offence of Possession of Cannabis which was committed on 2/5/2014 at Charlestown, and fined $500.00 which is to be paid in three  (3) months or in default will serve three  (3) months in prison. 

    STRAY ANIMAL CONTRIBUTED TO TRAFFIC ACCIDENT  

    The Tabernacle Police Station is investigating a single vehicle traffic accident which occurred about 9:45 PM on 6/5/2014 along the Island's Main Road in the vicinity of Mills' Estate which resulted in the driver being slightly injured. 

    Initial investigation revealed that Shelisa Hanley of Shadwell Estate was driving her motor car PA 2585 from Saddlers Village towards Basseterre when a cattle ran out of a sugar cane field, across the road, which resulted in Shelisa trying to avoid striking the animal and ran into a tree. 

    The Traffic Department takes this opportunity to encourage motorist to be mindful of the areas at which stray animals may cross the road suddenly, and to drive cautiously and within the speed limit in these areas. Also, to encourage owners of these stray animals to have them tied or penned in order to avoid traffic accidents which may result in serious injuries or death. Further, owners who have their animals wondering about in the public and on other persons' property are committing and offences, and will be prosecuted if their animals damage other persons property or contributed to any traffic accident.
