Basseterre, St. Kitts (May 8, 2014) – Digicel St. Kitts and Nevis is very pleased to announce yet another venture to celebrate Extraordinary Women this Mother’s Day.
Digicel has partnered with Reign of Elegance as a sponsor of their annual Tea and Hat Parade where the voted “Mother of the Year” will be rewarded for her exemplary work within the Federation.
Director of Reign of Elegance, Mrs. Telca Wallace announced that this year, Ms. Agnes Farrell will be honoured with the “Mother of the Year Award”. Ms. Farrell has conquered Breast Cancer for over 16 years. She was diagnosed with the disease in 1998 and completed her Radiation and Chemotherapy in July, 1999 in Trinidad & Tobago.
The humble recipient emphasized that “the road was by no means an easy one but by God’s grace and mercy and the strong support of family and friends, I am able to say that I am a strong survivor”.
Upon her return to the Federation and realizing that there was no organized support group or Cancer Society in the Federation, Agnes Farrell got together with three other persons (two of whom are also breast cancer survivors) to form a support group. This signalled the birth of the “Reach for Recovery” in February of 2002 of which Ms. Farrell is Founder and President. This Breast Cancer Support Group is determined to devote their time to helping others who became stricken with the disease.
The Reign of Elegance Tea Party and Hat Parade is scheduled to take place on Sunday 11th May 2014 at the Arrival Hall in Port Zante, at 4 pm. Tickets are $50 for adults and a contribution of $20 for each child. The Digicel Family is elated to be a part of such a great venture where mothers are honoured for being role models and showing great courage and strength through adversities. Digicel will honour Ms. Agnes Farrell with a special Smartphone and free 4G Data. Those in attendance will also be surprized with spot prizes in true Digicel style.
