Professional photographer finds Nevis irresistible

Rosemary Sullivan displays her book – We Goin’ Good!

CHARLESTOWN, Nevis - PROFESSIONAL photographer Rosemary Sullivan is a visitor to Nevis and has been doing so annually for the past 11 years.

While on her visits, Sullivan captured the people, their heritage and culture, as well as the natural beauty of the island on films and stories which she now has published in her books - Nevis as We See Her and We Goin’ Good!

Sullivan told SKNVibes that she is very happy with the new book, We Going’ Good, which title was conceived after asking a local how Nevis is and the person replied, “We goin’ good!”

“I am very happy with the people of Nevis when they see it and read it,” she said.

She also said that Nevis has the capacity to remain good because it is small and people could work together.

Sullivan, who partnered with professional photographer Charles Seton to take pictures for her second book, wants locals and tourists to benefit from her work. She would also like to see young people continuing the work, noting they now have plenty of advanced technology to carry on the project.

She further explained that We Goin’ Good records stories and photos of how the Four Seasons’ Resort opened up opportunities for Nevisians. She hopes that this book would not be the last in the series she has started out of her love for Nevis.

“Many will find the book a great souvenir and a great heritage book for Nevis households and future generations. No coffee table will be complete without a copy.”

During her maiden visit, Sullivan, who was born in New York but lives in Canada, was not physically fit. She recalls recovering after that visit. She attributes recovery of her knees, joints and other parts of her body to Nevis’ great climate, hot baths and friendly people.

Since then Sullivan has visited Nevis every year and she stated that the warmth experienced on the island prompted her to record her trips in pictures.
