BVI Press Release

B.V.I. Thursday, February 26 – Eighteen Human Resources Managers within Government and professionals from the Training Division are now better equipped to design, develop and deliver training programmes.

This follows their participation in a one-week train-the-trainer workshop hosted by Government which armed them with a higher degree of knowledge as it relates to training programmes.

The workshop, described as successful, forms an integral part of the Training Division’s 2009 work plan and arose from the need to have a cadre of trained facilitators within the public service.

Participants learned how to assess training needs, as well as design, develop and deliver training programmes.  Additionally, they learned the fundamental concepts of training delivery, including principles of adult learning and learning styles.  In order to put into practice the four critical elements of learning, namely, motivation, reinforcement, retention and transference, the participants took an active part in role-playing, discussions and individual and group work.

As a result of the one-week training course, participants will be designing and delivering workshops on the Training Division’s calendar.

The Training Division of the Department of Human Resources is responsible for facilitating in-service training programmes and managing external training programmes for public servants.
