BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – FOLLOWING up on calls made to this publication concerning a recent price hike in unleaded gasoline and diesel at some gas stations in St. Kitts, SKNVibes firstly contacted SOL EC Limited and found that the information was accurate.
When contacted on Wednesday (May 14), one of SOL’s representatives told SKNVibes Business that the company did increase the fuel prices based on the procurement of fuel at the current world market price.
The representative said that the price of unleaded gasoline has increased from $15.77 to $15.91 per gallon and diesel which was sold for $15.76 per gallon has jumped to $16.76.
She however noted that there is some degree of uncertainty in prices for the next shipment, explaining that prices for both fuel could reduce, remain the same or even go higher, and that this is dependent on factors affecting the world market.
However, fuel at Delta Petroleum has not reflected any price increase.
Speaking with Delta’s Island Manager Rafael Payne, he explained that the company has not yet increased its price because the last shipment of fuel received did not reflect any increase in the acquisition cost. He however noted that there could a change in the near future.
The manager further explained that when the company’s new shipment arrives, it could see either an increase or a decrease in price for fuel, since all prices are determined by the world market.
He informed that the price for unleaded gasoline is $15.75 and diesel $15.70.
