Bronx, NY: Chronixx, the roots reggae singer who Island Records' founder Chris Blackwell said is in line to be "reggae's next big thing" and singjay I-Octane each won three awards at the fifth annual Linkage Awards that was held recently at the Evander Child's High School in the Bronx, New York.
Chronixx's star power was on display as he won awards for "Culture Artist of the Year," "Best New Artist" and "Entertainer of the Year" while I-Octane walked away with "Male DJ of the Year," "Male Recording Artist of the Year" and "Performer of the Year" awards.
Songbird Tessane Chin, winner of NBC's hit show The Voice was crowned "Female Recording Artist of the Year" and "Female Vocalist of the Year," while "Lifetime Achievement Awards" were handed out to DJs Lady Junie, Sister Nancy, Tony Rebel and singers Sophia Brown and Etana.
Performers at the event were I-Octane, Ernie Smith, Carlene Davis and Sophia Brown who performed two new songs - "Sugar Cane" and "Touch Me."
It was not all about awards and performances as the fashionistas were out and dressed in sizzling outfits. The fashion styles ranged from classy casual to glamorous Grammy-style glitz. Some of the ladies and a few gents were not afraid to show off a little color and style on the big night while others dressed more conservatively.
