BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, May 27th 2014 (TUCOM) -Team UNITY Leader Dr. Hon. Timothy Harris has congratulated Team St.Kitts-Nevis on its historic performance at the equally historic Inaugural IAAF World Relays in Nassau, Bahamas.
Dr Harris said “Every resident, national and citizen of our country is immensely proud of this historic achievement by our gifted and talented athletes. Team St.Kitts-Nevis continues to impress and reach historic heights in the world of athletics. The truly historic Silver Medal performance at these the first ever World Relay Games shows the true power of unity.
Unity of purpose and the strength of individuals coming together as one to achieve is what Team SKN has exemplified with their truly magnificent performance in Nassau. St.Kitts-Nevis continues to develop strong talented and gifted young men and women which augur well for the future of our athletics and our country.”
Dr. Harris went on to reiterate his historic Team UNITY; s commitment to youth and sport development in its PROSPERITY AGENDA.
Dr. Harris declared “We in Team UNITY understand the significance of the development of sports and youth in our country. Which is why as part of our PROSPERITY AGENDA we have paid significant attention to policies that will enhance the development of sport, education and youth in our country.
Already we have announced policies which will see the reduction of payments on student loans as well as the pioneering policy of Universal Pre-School education. The Prosperity Agenda will also look at the maintenance and upkeep of sporting facilities with a view of ensuring our athletes are able to train in the most modern and comfortable facilities available.”
Team St.Kitts-Nevis broke the National Record in winning a Silver Medal in the 4 x 200m at the Inaugural IAAF World Relay Games in the Bahamas.
The team returned to the island on Monday afternoon.
