Fisherman shot in Nevis

    BASSETERRE, St. Kitts – A Guyanese of Indian descent and resident of Stoney Grove, Nevis is in critical condition at the Alexandra Hospital after being shot last night (May 28) twice to the body.

     

    The shooting victim’s name was given as Shawn Chatram, a fisherman by trade.

    According to information reaching this publication, Chatram was shot in the mouth and chest shortly before 10:00 p.m. in the vicinity of Pinney’s Beach.

    Unconfirmed reports indicate that the incident may be of a domestic nature and a close relative of the victim is in custody assisting police with their investigations.

    Police have confirmed that a young man is in custody but they were unable to say what the reason behind the shooting was.

    According to sources close to Chatram, efforts are being made to have him flown to Puerto Rico.
